While living in New York City, Joe Fisher unexpectedly became the primary caregiver of an uncle living with a neurocognitive disorder. Joe’s uncle also happens to be a gay man. When his uncle reached the point of needing home health care, Joe called various agencies in search of help. Joe struggled to find care providers who could meet his uncle’s needs while showing sensitivity to his uncle’s identity.
Separately, Patrick O’Brien has been a family caregiver from an early age. His mother lives with chronic illness. Later in life, while volunteering as an aide for an older adult with macular degeneration, Patrick found his calling to work in long-term care.
After meeting through a mutual friend, Joe and Patrick developed their shared vision for long-term care services that focus on each person’s unique needs and that support care providers alongside care recipients.
Guided by this vision, Joe and Patrick started Renewal Care Partners. With its offices based in midtown Manhattan, Renewal Care Partners now serves clients in all five boroughs of New York City as well as Westchester County.
