Care Partner of the Month: Tiffany Britton

“Do the right thing and do the right thing right.”

Tiffany Britton, Care Partner, Black woman. Female caregiver. Memory care expert.

by Gina Stulman, Renewal Memory Partners Graduate Social Work Intern. Gina is in her first year at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.

In just one conversation with Tiffany Britton, you are reminded about what life is truly about: the small things and joyful moments that bring warmth into hearts and homes. Tiffany has brought these gifts into the lives of our clients since joining Renewal Memory Partners in 2014, continuing to lead with an open heart, a friendly smile, and an inspiring dedication to our mission.

Tiffany knew she found her calling working as a Care Partner as soon as she began working in home care 11 years ago. Certified as both a nurse assistant and home health aide, Tiffany brings exceptional technical and clinical skills to her work. But just as importantly, she brings love and empathy, and treats her clients as members of her own family. Following in the footsteps of her grandmother, who dedicated her life to service as a social worker, Tiffany says she was always inspired by her life of service to others. “I am passionate about providing exceptional client-centered care, working with patients in hospice, and with those who have neurocognitive disorders,” says Tiffany.

Every week, Tiffany and her longtime client pampered themselves with at-home manicures.

Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina but raised in the Bronx, Tiffany feels like a native New Yorker through and through. To unwind and have fun, Tiffany enjoys staying physically active by bike riding and dancing, and loves doing karaoke with friends from time to time. She is passionate about travel and says that Aruba is her happy place. Tiffany loves that many of her clients are well travelled and will enchant her with stories from their adventures. She says that through these conversations she has added many new places to her bucket list! In working with her clients, Tiffany says she sees elements of her own family members within each person she supports. They remind her of how precious life is and just how important it is to show care and love in the present moment.

Tiffany’s tips for Care Partners, family and professional alike, are to remain flexible with your approach and remember not to take things too seriously or personally. She is also a huge proponent of self-care. “We pour so much of ourselves into our clients’ care, it is absolutely necessary to take care mentally, physically and spiritually,” Tiffany shares.

Tiffany has recently become certified as a Recovery Peer Advocate for clients with mental health and substance abuse and has obtained certification as an Electronic Health Specialist. These pursuits speak to her continued pursuit to broaden her knowledge and depth in caring for her clients.

Tiffany is inspired by a quote she heard from one of her professors, “do the right thing and do the right thing right.”. She exemplifies those very words on a day-to-day basis with her clients as well as with her team members at Renewal Memory Partners. Her colleagues describe her as hardworking, full of integrity, and someone who shines in every room she enters. Her presence and care continue to touch the lives of everyone in her orbit. Thank you, Tiffany, for your continued passion and life-changing work!
